Hyde's smile in the second panel is priceless.

He may have troll's smile (yellow fangs that are crooked), but it makes you smile.

I always imagined Hyde (non-troll version) to have a cheshire cat smile. Unsettling, slightly wicked, and yet weirdly infectious.
This Hyde answers that description rather well, actually. ;)

According to the official novel which started it all, it was never confirmed if Hyde was ugly or a monster. Just very uncomfortable to look at, so it likely they had a twisted Cheshire Cat smile, but I doubt it was contagious. I think it was frightening.
Anonymous Puffin 25th Oct 2018, 9:07 AM edit delete reply
Oh, most definitely frightening!
But somehow I can't help but think people would be extra creeped out because they subconsciously identified with him, just a teeny-tiny bit.
After all, before it all goes horribly pear-shaped, Hyde is Jekyll's desire to escape. We all want to escape sometimes :)

These are just my sleep/caffeine-deprived ramblings, mind, so don't pay too close attention to them ;)

Yes, but Hyde (and Jekyll) learned that you don't settle your problems by escaping from them. You have to face them like a man.
Anonymous Puffin 24th Oct 2018, 1:44 PM edit delete reply
Heh... Is that Jekyll's subtle way of asking Hyde to bring back a pair of shoes for him? ;)
MK_Wizard 24th Oct 2018, 1:45 PM edit delete reply
MK_Wizard
Not exactly. Jekyll is still an honest guy and he can't accept the shoes from Hyde or else people will get suspicious. Plus, Hyde knows how valuable their secret is.
